Paul Ryan, the former Speaker of the House, may have quit Congress, but he is still a powerful figure behind the scenes.
The media adored Wisconsin Republican Paul Ryan, and lobbyists adored him, but Ryan regularly clashed with President Donald J. Trump, and he decided to leave the government before the 2018 midterm elections.
Ryan is a devout RINO whose main allegiance is to the swamp, which has led to his tumultuous relationship with the former president.
Ryan is now getting back into politics by organizing a fundraiser for Rep. Liz Cheney, who has received a lot of flak for joining Democrats in their failed second impeachment attempt against Trump.
The online gathering, which will take place later this month, will seek help to save Cheney from a primary challenge in her Wyoming district, which aims to force her out of Congress next year.
The fundraiser, which will be a “virtual experience,” will take place on Thursday, March 25 at 11 a.m. eastern time. Donors are asked to make “suggested contributions” of $2,900 to “attend,” or $5,800 to be a “co-host” of the Ryan-Cheney case, according to the invitation.
The “Liz Cheney for Wyoming” campaign address, to which donors are asked to make checks payable, is in Alexandria, Virginia, a suburb of Washington, DC, according to the fundraising invitation. Cheney’s primary rivals would almost certainly use the fact that her campaign is based in the nation’s capital rather than the state she claims to represent against her.
Cheney is facing a number of primary challenges as a result of her vote to impeach now-former President Donald Trump. In his speech at the Conservative Political Action Conference (CPAC) this past weekend, Trump singled out her and her fellow Republican impeachment conspirators, naming all 17 House and Senate Republicans who voted to impeach or prosecute him and demanding that they be removed from office.
Ryan’s own time in the House came to an end when he handed the powerful speaker’s gavel to Nancy Pelosi in the 2018 midterm drubbing that cost Republicans control of the House and laid the foundation for the current shambles.
Cheney, the daughter of former Vice President Dick Cheney, has emerged as a leading spokeswoman for the anti-MAGA rump faction of the Republican Party, which includes Mitt Romney, Susan Collins, and Ben Sasse, all of whom are often portrayed in the media but have little support outside of Washington.
Cheney, like the other RINOs, supports citizenship for illegal immigrants, globalism, and, most importantly, her father’s foreign wars.
There’s no question that Ryan will be able to cash in on his success in the swamp to fend off Cheney’s challengers, but Trump remains enormously dominant within the Republican party, and the America First campaign isn’t going anywhere.
