At his first press conference after 64 days in office, President Joe Biden made a surprising announcement: he intends to run for re-election in 2024.

“Have you made up your mind about running for re-election in 2024?” CBS News’ Nancy Cordes inquired. “You haven’t yet organized an election campaign, as your predecessor had done at this point.”
With an uncomfortable laugh, Biden said, “My predecessor.” “It was necessary. My forerunner. Oh, my God, I’m missing him.”
It was unclear why Biden felt Donald Trump’s re-election plans were amusing.
He then suddenly said, “The answer is yes.” “I plan to seek re-election. That’s what I’m hoping for.”
According to the Hill, Biden sees himself as a “two-term president.”
When asked if Biden will run for re-election, a long-time Biden advisor said, “I don’t think there’s any reason to believe he won’t.”
When asked whether the president will run again, another said, “contrary to this sentiment that he’ll be a one-term president because of his own volition.”
Democratic strategist Jamal Simmons said, “Biden should certainly be planning to run again.” “It’s better to get off the train than to get on it late, and a lame-duck president isn’t going to get anything done.”
Why so many strategists and advisors want Biden to run for re-election is unclear. He isn’t even turning up to the presidency he now occupies on a daily basis.
