Michigan is running neck and neck with Georgia for America’s most unlikable and untrustworthy Secretary of State.
We’ve reported on numerous occasions about the lies that Michigan’s Secretary of State Jocelyn Benson has told the media since the November election, yet Michigan’s far-left media continues to treat Benson as a public leader with integrity and/or character. Meanwhile, nothing could be further from the truth.
On March 16, Michigan’s crooked Secretarty of State Jocelyn Benson was again, exposed for attempting to affect the outcome of the election when a Michigan judge ruled that Benson did in fact, direct city clerks to ignore signature matching law on absentee ballots in the 2020 election.
Earlier today, the Gateway Pundit reported about Georgia’s corrupt Secretary of State Brad Raffensperger, who sent a request to the courts yesterday requesting that ballot images taken from the voting machines in Georgia be the only source of evidence to be used in an upcoming audit in Fulton County Georgia. Raffensperger doesn’t want the paper ballots reviewed. Why?
In December 2020, MI Democrat Secretary of State Benson refused to testify about the election in front of the House Oversight Committee.
Today, the Detroit News is reporting that once again, Michigan’s dishonest SOS is refusing to testify in front of the MI Senate Oversight Committee.
Detroit News – Sen. Ed McBroom, the Vulcan Republican who chairs the Oversight Committee, sent a letter to Benson Monday after her staff informed him that she would not testify on the state’s election audit process at an April 20 hearing.
Instead, Michigan’s director of elections, Jonathan Brater, would testify because he “directly manages” the services the committee will be discussing.
“I believe it is imperative that the state’s chief election officer, ultimately elected to and charged with making the final decisions, be present as well,” McBroom said.
The Senate committee chairman noted he had offered to hold a pre-committee meeting with Benson to inform her of the questions and objectives of the committee and gave his cellphone number to Benson’s staff in an attempt to reach her.
Benson’s office said Monday she’s worked closely with the Legislature and appreciated its advancement of some election policies for which she had advocated. But her office criticized the committee for undermining faith in and “spreading misinformation” regarding the November election.
In other words, Benson, who claims to be “transparent,” refuses to be transparent, and blames those who tried to get to the bottom of what happened in the November elections for her lack of transparency. Benson is referring to the outcry by by Michigan residents after President Trump was clearly leading around midnight on November 3rd, when all of a sudden the counting of absentee ballots halted and then suddenly re-started early the next morning, giving America’s worst presidential candidate possibly in American history, a stunning election victory in a state Trump won in 2016.
Benson emphasized that post-election hearings spreading misinformation and the Senate’s introduction of certain election bills would keep her from appearing before the committee. The bills Benson said she opposed included ones that would put additional restrictions on ballot drop boxes, ban clerks from paying for return postage on absentee ballot envelopes and keep current restrictions on the pre-processing of absentee ballots.
“I have concerns that the hearing could further the lies about the election that continue to undermine Michigan voters’ faith in the outcome and are now the rationale to legislatively restrict their voting rights,” Benson wrote.
If Benson is truly all about transparency and free and fair elections, why is she working so hard to hide from public scrutiny?
